Kaohsiung City Council
Kaohsiung

Kaohsiung City Council, an old building with more than 40 years of history, is now under improvement and repairs for a 21st-Century image in accordance with the KMRT Red Line design. With its shape open to four directions and upward curves, the sculptures at front of many colors represent the versatility, innovation, and active energy source of Kaohsiung City Council. The round hole in the sculpture symbolizes Council’s resolution to citizens’ petitions and monitoring city services. The sculptures con-join and stand above the pond as if above the port city. The whole design means ethnicity integration and expectation towards harmony. Besides, due to the height and volume of the submarine-shaped station building at O4 City Council KMRT exit, the Council grew an elegant tall Rose Wood and established a giant marble decoration to keep its visual and mass equilibrium with the KMRT building. A big LED display hung at the frontal building broadcasts real-time interpellations for citizens’ better understanding of the Council.
