The Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Cross in Gerlachsheim was built as a baroque church in 1723-1730 by Father Sebaldus Appelmann under Sigismund Hauck, the abbot of the mother monastery in Oberzell. Since then, the three-aisled basilica has been one of the most famous churches in the region.
