Manastir Lešje [Srbija]
Serbia

Monastery of the Holy Virgin lesja above the village, about ten miles southeast of Paracin and 40km from Soko Banja spa, dates from the Middle Ages, but its origin is difficult to determine more precisely. The monastery church with trefoil base, from the mid-fourteenth century, is the oldest building of its kind in Morava. Its foundations were discovered in 1923. , on the slopes of Mount Baba, located in omanjoj plateau, protected by sharp rocks on the east side. On its ruins at the beginning of the XXI century, built a new church, so Lešje still active nunnery.


The ruins of the monastery of the Virgin had been declared a cultural monument of great importance and is now under the protection of the Republic of Serbia, as part of the protected monuments whole Petrushka area.
