New Lanark, Scotland - UNESCO World Heritage Site
Scotland
Mill Number Four was destroyed by fire in 1883. It was never rebuilt. The other mills finally closed in 1968, after over 150 years of continuous production. Probably due to its isolated location, the village remained practically unchanged since the beginning of Industrial Revolution.
