Hole in the Mountain Mine [1]
California

This view shows the ruins of the Hole in the Mountain Mine west of Smith River, California, different from the other nearby mines which mined copper.  An old abandoned mining road leads one to the site.  There were two adits though one is clearly caved & the other appears to be mostly caved with a dangerous squeeze if one were to dare.  This former chromium mine produced chromite, though it also had microscopic trace deposits of rare earth elements including palladium, rhodium, ruthenium, iridium, & platinum.
